My Journey to Amsterdam.
This is my story about my trip to Amsterdam.Well, we had a lot of preparation to do, before we went. We raised money, and planned the trip. We got some jobs that we did. One of them was to paint some pictures for the Bup. This gave us 5000 kr, this we used to pay back Marit, because she covered for the plane tickets and train tickets. We also got some money, from “Tanches Legat”, and some Waffle sales. . And each and one of us, had some personal savings. And after months of planning, and arguing about thing, the travel day was upon us.Sunday night on the 25th Mars, we began our journey. We came to Mosjøen, 11.00 pm. So we had to sit and wait for hours, for the train that left the station 02.05(am???). After almost 10 hours on the train, we finally arrived Oslo, Gardemoen. Here we took the plan (Sterling) to Amsterdam. To see how large the airport was, according to the small airport in Oslo, was a huge experience. First we had to take the train to the train station we finally got out of the train station, and the first thing that shrunk me, was how wonderful everything was. It came to my sense that I was in one of the biggest cities in the world. Here we took the tram to the Hotel that was almost in the middle of the city. Late Monday night we had finally arrived our destination. Hotel Lancaster. When everyone had come in places and got some room, we went out for late dinner. Afterwards we went back to our hotel and said good night… Thursday.Rotterdam, here we come! We stood up very early this day, because we had a lot of things to do. We eat common breakfast and, began our trip to Rotterdam! We took the tram, and train to Rotterdam. On the train station, in Rotterdam we met the artist, we were supposed to meet. Yngvar Larsen. He became our tour guide in Rotterdam.
First stop was the Norwegian Sea sailor Church. ( Norsk sjømannskirke). Were we met Britt, a lady from Sandnessjøen. She used to work in the SandnessjøenVgs. So the teachers that travelled with us knew here very well. After we NSC, we walked trough the park to NAI( Netherlands Aritecture Instute.) We saw a lot of things there, and it was a quite fun=).
After that we got a choice, to go to Zoo, or go shopping. I always wanted to go to the Zoo, so the choice wasn’t very hard. ;) This zoo was one of the biggest in Europe. J And I saw a lot of marvellous things, and animalsJ.
We went back to Amsterdam, late that night.
Wednesday
In Amsterdam there are a lot of museums. We had a task about great painters/artist before we went. Those were Rembrandt and Van Gogh. Both of them have museums to attend, and so we did. It was one of those things we had to do! First we went to House of Rembrandt, we could get an eye in the past, and see how he lived.
Afterwards, we went to Rijksmuseum, where we could see some of the paintings he had made. I did not like that much. The museum had a lot of great paintings, also by other artist then Rembrandt, but I haven’t seen any of them. The only one I had seen before was “The night watch”.
We walked trough the park to the other side, and went on to Van Gogh museum. I did like my self here. I knew a lot of paintings, and it was a huge experience for me to see the paintings in real life. After all this we went back to the hotel, and afterwards some of us went to a park nearby the hotel and sat down, and totally relax.
Thursday, the final day...
It was kind of sad to wake up this day, and see that it had rain the day before. But in the way the air was much cleaner... This day was final day in Amsterdam..
Some of us had some left over shopping, and things to see.J We check out of the hotel before 12.00. We had the whole day to do this. We took the train back to the airport, here we waited 4 hours or so, for the flight back to Norway. J
I jumped of in Gardemoen, and went to visit my older sister for the Easter.
If I could give an advice to a kid in my age, away to Amsterdam. It would be that, see as much as possible, and the most of the experience can’t not be paid for, it has to bee seen of lived.
